Your Project

Part One: You leave your home in Europe to recapture the Holy Land as a Christian Crusader. Using course materials and the Lib Guide for research, write 3 dated journal entries (approximately a half page each) describing:

  1. Your religious beliefs
  2. Your journey (including the landscapes and peoples you see as you travel)
  3. Your perception of the Crusades
  4. Create a map of your personal route

Part Two:  You are a Muslim defending your home, the Holy Land. Using course materials and the Lib Guide for research, write 3 dated journal entries (approximately a half page each) describing:

  1. Your daily life (before the Crusades)
  2. Your religious beliefs
  3. Your perception of the Crusades

You may hand write (legibly and in pen) or use an iPad or laptop. Because this is a creative project, you may use various fonts and paper, photos or sketches, and you may write in first person (“I” “we”).

Checklist

(10 points each)

Journal:
_______ Include thorough and accurate information from course materials, totaling no fewer than 3-5 sources. Journals must include at least 10 key terms with context and answer all parts of the above prompt.

For sources: 3-5 sources for each perspective = 3-5 sources for your Christian journal; 3-5 sources for your Muslim journal.

For key terms: 10 terms for each journal = 10 terms for your Christian journal;10 terms for your Muslim journal. You may have similar terms in each, so you therefore do not need 20 different terms.

_______ Use sophisticated and grammatically correct language. Proofread for spelling and punctuation (especially commas, semicolons, colons, and possessives). Include a works cited page adhering to MLA guidelines posted on the LibGuide.

Map:
_______ Include a title, compass rose, inset map, and labels for relevant cities and bodies of water. Your map should clearly show your route from a European location to the Holy Land.
_______ Maps should be relatively accurate, neatly done, and include no spelling errors.
