ALA YOUTH MEDIA  AWARDS
DESCRIPTION: The Olympics of children's book awards. Includes Caldecott, Newbery, Coretta Scott King, Printz, Belpre, Sibert, Stonewall, Geisel, and many other importatn awards. Great source of DEI books and generally great literature. I don't always agree with selections, but always respect and consider the choices. A huge number are part of Town's curriculum and collection.
NOTE:   Pages for each award include criteria, current winners, past winners, and a variety of other relevant links.

 

CALLING CALDECOTT
DESCRIPTION: 
Part of Horn Book. Includes articles and list of possible winners. Does not lead to lists of actual winners of the Caldecott.
NOTE: Consider using for 2nd grade unit on CaldecottT Award. 

 

GOODREADS 2023 MOCK NEWBERY LIST
DESCRIPTION:  Excellent resource for pre-reading potential winners for the coming year.
NOTE:  Crowd-sourced based on official criteria.

 

KIRKUS REVIEWS
DESCRIPTION: Major treasure trove; one of most useful sites. Short reviews in a well organized and highly searchable website. Plus so much more: Kirkus Award, Writer's Center, News. Has some diversity filters to suss out these books.
NOTE:  Can filter by age, genre, format, and ratings (this last is unusual).

DESCRIPTION: Part of SLJ. Focused solely on YA contenders for the Michael L. Printz Award for Excellence in Young Adult Literature.
