5th Grade: Ancient Egypt: Project Steps

Your project

Assignment:

As part of our study of Ancient Egypt, you will be creating a group presentation about an aspect of Egyptian culture or society, using at least 3 PICT sources.

Each group member will be writing one expanded paragraph about a subtopic.

Project Steps

STEP 1 

In your group, pick your big topic. Submit your big topic proposal to Schoology, using the Planning Sheet below.

STEP 2

Once you have chosen a big topic, the next step is to narrow down your topic to 3-4 subtopics. 

For example, if your group's big topic is Egyptian Architecture, your subtopics could include: 1) Famous types of structures; 2) Building materials; 3) Building process and jobs.

STEP 3

Now it is time to research and draft! 

  • Each person will RESEARCH a subtopic using PICT websites and library databases. 
  • TAKE NOTES independently on your subtopic using the Source Notes (below).
  • Begin DRAFTING your expanded paragraph on your subtopic using the Expanded Paragraph Drafting Checklist (below).

STEP 4

Compile your sources into a bibliography at the end of your paper, using the bibliography guide (below).

STEP 5

Next, add your key points to a Google Slides presentation. You will present your slides to the class.
